NSRI lists active competitions and research challenges when they are open for public participation. Each competition should identify organizers, eligibility, deadlines, fees if any, and submission requirements.

Rules and judging criteria
Competition rules should explain eligible work, originality expectations, judging categories, scoring criteria, conflicts of interest, and how winners are selected.
Awards
Awards, scholarships, certificates, publication opportunities, or recognition should be described clearly and should not be presented as guaranteed outcomes.
Winner publication policy
Winning work may be announced publicly or invited into NSRI publication pathways only when authors consent and the work meets editorial, ethics, and integrity standards.
Privacy and refunds
NSRI should respect privacy for student names and photos. If a competition charges fees, the page or linked rules should explain refund/payment policies before payment.

The NSRI Research Hackathon is a 5-day fully virtual research sprint for students worldwide. Participants independently create original research projects with structured prompts, mentorship, and track-based judging.
The 2026 edition is hosted by NSRI in collaboration with The Insilico Lab and YRI. It is solo participation only, and no prior research experience is required.

This initiative was built with 1 clear purpose: to give back as much as possible to student researchers around the world.
Unlike many competitions built to generate profit, this is a nonprofit global research challenge. Both organizations are choosing not to profit from this initiative. Instead, proceeds are being redirected into student scholarships, awards, and recognition.
