About this project

Mechanism of program med cell death of erythrocytes. This project involves conducting a comprehensive literature review and evidence map focusing on the biochemical pathways and triggers of eryptosis (red blood cell death). The team will systematically search, analyze, and synthesize existing literature on key regulatory mechanisms—such as calcium influx, oxidative stress, and membrane scrambling—to map out current knowledge gaps and provide a structured overview of the field.

Phase 1: Scoping & Literature Search (Weeks 1–2) Objective: Define search criteria and gather primary literature.

Tasks:

Collaboratively build search strings for databases like PubMed and Google Scholar.

Screen and select relevant research articles covering eryptosis triggers and signaling pathways.

Team Roles: Split the literature search across team members by specific sub-topics (e.g., calcium signaling vs. oxidative stress triggers).

Phase 2: Evidence Extraction & Synthesis (Weeks 3–5) Objective: Analyze papers and structure findings.

Tasks:

Extract key data points from selected studies (methodologies, findings, limitations).

Organize findings into a shared evidence map matrix or thematic categories.

Outline the structure of the literature review.

Phase 3: Drafting & Diagramming (Weeks 6–8) Objective: Write the manuscript and design visual summaries.

Tasks:

Draft specific sections of the paper (Introduction, Mechanism Overviews, Discussion, Conclusion).

Create a schematic diagram or flowchart illustrating the eryptosis signaling cascade.

Team Roles: Assign sections for drafting, followed by a collaborative review phase.

Phase 4: Editing, Polishing & Submission (Weeks 9–10) Objective: Finalize the draft for the advisor.

Tasks:

Conduct peer review and proofreading across the team for clarity and academic tone.

Standardize citations and formatting.

Submit the completed evidence map/literature review to Dr. Kashif Jilani.

How PhD support works

Kashif Jilani is an advisor, not a weekly team member.

Your student team meets and completes the work independently. Contact the advisor at the defined research checkpoints for feedback on the plan, methods, draft, and final submission.
